The RVB code as a board game — 2-round match, sides swapped.
Rules
- Select a piece, then click a marked square: a dot is a move, a ring is a capture. A greyed piece has no move; click it to see why.
- 18 pieces per side: 6 red, 6 green, 6 blue. The letter on a piece (A or B) is its player; light outline = bottom side, black outline = top side. Sides are swapped in round 2, the letter follows the player.
- Moves of 1 or 3 squares. Red: forward, left, right. Green: forward diagonals. Blue: like red, plus the 3-square retreat (only blue can).
- A piece must land on a square of its own colour (blue may land on any) — unless it captures.
- Capturing: with a 1-square step, you take the neighbour's place; with a 3-square leap, you eat the single enemy on the path and land 3 squares away. Your own pieces block the path.
- Red eats red, green, blue; green eats green and blue; blue eats nothing.
- Compulsory capture (set before the match): if one of your pieces can eat, you must. Full: blue included — offering a blue forces your opponent to take it (−1). Except blue: you are never forced to eat blue (good for beginners). Free: no obligation. One move per turn, no multi-captures.
- Sanctuary: a piece reaching the last row (row 9 for the bottom side, row 1 for the top), on a square of its colour, enters the Sanctuary and leaves the board: red +3, green +2, blue 0. Untouchable from then on.
- Score: red eaten +3, green +2, blue −1 (blue is a burden). A round ends after 30 moves per side, or when a side cannot move. The 2-round total decides.
- The rvb music (♪) is the one from e.l.s.a.: the code's 81 squares, read one by one, play C (r), E (v) or G (b).
